JAWA Quality Certification(OLD)         JAWA Quality Certification(NEW)

The majority of the light alloy wheels available in the aftermarket undergo a double-checking system as per the following standards.  In addition, products of JAWA member companies are given “JAWA Quality Certification” to demonstrate that the products are subject to continuous quality maintenance and improvement efforts.

JAWA member companies are allowed to add a JAWA Quality Cert to their products that meet JWL standard and pass tests conducted by Japan Light Alloy Automotive Wheel Testing Council, a third-party public institution to demonstrate to the users the products are safe and reliable. A JAWA Quality Cert comes with a PL insurance policy.

Standard for Light Alloy Disc Wheels

Notification of the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism regarding “Security Standard for Automotive Public Road Transporter”
(Ji – 899: issued on October 1, 1983)
Engineering standard for light alloy disc wheels for passenger vehicles (Self-cert test)
Engineering standard for light alloy disc wheels for trucks and buses (Self-cert test)

sta im02 This standard is applicable to light alloy disc wheels for passenger vehicles (excluding vehicles with riding capacity of 11 people or greater, motorcycles, and motorcycles with a sidecar - * a scope for those exceptional cases are to be separately set). As per this standard, tests are conducted on manufacturers own responsibilities and products that have passed the tests are given a JWL seal mark.

sta im03 This standard is applicable to light alloy disc wheels for trucks and busses. As per this standard, tests are conducted on manufacturers own responsibilities and products that have passed the tests are given a JWL-T seal mark (the Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism judges whether the subjected products meet the provisions in Article 9 of “Safety Standard for Road Transportation Vehicles” by confirming that they have these cert seal mark ).

Tests conducted by JWTC (a third-party institution)

sta im04 Testing is consigned from Japan Vehicle Inspection Association to Japan Light Alloy Automotive Wheel Testing Council (JWTC,incorporated foundation) to see the subjected products meet the national standard of JWL or JWL-T.  Products whose status of conformity to the standard is confirmed are registered at JWTC and have VIA cert seal mark on them. As the national engineering standard requests self-certification, products in the aftermarket are tested at a third party testing public institution.
